Travel Documents Requirements

Travel documents requirements to enter any alien country is different from country to country. Commonwealth countries have an understanding standard of requirements for its member countries but rules and changes are occuring all the time.

The requirements of travel documents to any alien countries may change due to political situations, agreement changes among countries and the threat of terrorism worldwide.

It is advisable to check for the latest requirements through the embassy of the country you intend to visit at your home country.

Below I highlight the travel documents requirement of Singapore, Malaysia and Thailand.

Singapore Travel Documents Requirement

Singapore VISA is required only by the following:
(a)" nationals of Afghanistan, Algeria, Bangladesh, Cambodia, China (PR), CIS, Egypt, India, Iran, Iraq, Jordan, Laos, Lebanon, Libya, Myanmar, Pakistan, Saudi Arabia, Somalia, Sudan, Syria, Tunisia, Vietnam, Yemen and holders of Palestinan Authority passports;

(b) those holding Refugee Travel Documents issued by Middle Eastern countries;

(c) those holding Hong Kong Document of Identity cards and holders of a Macau SAR Travel Permit."

All countries mentioned in (a), except China (PR), Cambodia, CIS, India, Laos, Macau (SAR), Myanmar and Vietnam require a letter from a local sponsor (Singapore registered company, citizen or permanent resident) bearing responsibility for the visitor's stay.

All other nationals require a Social Visit Pass, which is issued on arrival (at the discretion of the Immigration Officer) provided the traveller holds a passport valid for 6 months beyond date of departure, confirmed onward or return travel documentation, and sufficient funds to cover expenses for the duration of stay. Thailand Travel Documents Requirement

As a general rule, any foreigner seeking entry into the Kingdom of Thailand is required to apply for a visa from a Thai Embassy or Consulate-General. To do so, a foreigner must possess a valid passport or travel document (with a minimum validity of six months beyond the period of intended stay) that is recognized by the Royal Thai Government.There are eight types of visa issued by the Thai authority. The one you will need is the tourist visa.

Upon arrival, visitors with this type of visa will be permitted to stay in the Kingdom of Thailand for a period not exceeding 60 days at any time.

Certain countries are exempted from having the visa requirements.Check list of countries and other details

Malaysia Travel Documents Requirement

Visitors to Malaysia must be in possession of valid passport/travel documents with a minimum validity of six months beyond the period of intended stay. In the case of a national passport not recognised by the Malaysian Government, the holder must be in possession of a document in lieu of passport obtainable at the nearest Malaysian Mission abroad. The national passport must also ensure his re-entry into the country of his citizenship.

Nationals of the Republic of China, Bangladesh, Bhutan, Cuba, India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, North Korea, Nepal, Myanmar, Taiwan, Vietnam and all Certificate of Identity (CI) holders must obtain a visa before entering Malaysia.
It is learn that Malaysia are relaxing certain requirements for some countries, whereby they can obtain the entry visa upon arrival.

Most countries do not require a visa but to be on the safe side please check the list of countries here

Disease And Health Care

It is now safe to travel these countries without much fear of contracting diseases like malaria, cholera, thyphoid etc. but still we need to take certain precaution.

The risk of contracting them are limited to the rural areas of Malaysia and in Thailand, areas that border Cambodia, Laos and Myanma (Burma).There is no risk in Singapore.
