Unlike Pattaya's one stretch of beach, Phuket has numerous beaches almost circulating the island. The main beaches are, Patong, Karon, Kata, Surin and many others. You can travel to all the beaches on hired vehicles or arrange for a round island tour package. Take a boat trip to more beaches at Phi-Phi, Coral and Similan islands.   On drier land you can visit Chinatown with Chinese shrines and Chinese shophouses abound in downtown Phuket. More Buddhist Temples but the two best known temples in Phuket are Wat Chalong and Wat Phra Thong (Golden Buddha Monastery). The latter has a large solid gold Buddha image protruding from the temple floor. View the largest tropical aquariums and landscaped gardens in Phuket where one can enjoy live coral gardens and the many species of butterflies at the Butterfly Garden & Aquarium. With the hot weather you must feel thirsty, try some of the local juicy fresh fruits at the fresh food market located downtown. Visit to thePa Pra Taew National Park can be cooling from the shade of the rainforest and the waterfall. 
If you are still in Phuket over a Friday night you get to watch live thai boxing at the Thai Boxing stadium.Taste the superb thai food and watch the performances of dances and culture of the Southern area at the Phuket Orchid Garden and Thai Village, a majot tourist attractions. To round up check Khao Rang (Phuket View Point), a low hill near the town center, is an excellent place to view the beautiful scene of the town, expecially on a full -moon night.  If you miss the transvestite cabaret show in Pattaya you can get to see it at Patong beach resort. Like any other night spot Phuket has it's own beer-bars, go-go bars, discotheques and a breath-taking Las Vegas-style theatrical show, "Phuket Fantasea Show" where state-of-the-art technology and special effects enhance the grace and beauty of Thailand's Myths, Mysteries and Magic in a wondrous extravaganza. |
