Bangkok, the capital city of Thailand has many great venues of tourist attractions.
In Bangkok, Thailand, irrespective of your religion, paying a visit to Bangkok many temples can provide a very great experience. Bangkok city is big, congested and crowded. So if you love to have fun Bangkok is not a place to miss when you are in Thailand.
Wat Phra Kaew, the Temple of the Emerald Buddha, and the adjoining Grand Palace is a must visit site for all tourist. It consists of over 100 brightly colored buildings, golden spires and glittering mosaics, and dates back to 1782, when Bangkok was founded. It houses the tiny (between 60 and 75 cm) Emerald Buddha, which is located high above the heads of the worshippers and tourists. The image is considered a talisman and holds tremendous significance for Thailand and the Thais. The 'robe' that it wears is changed 3 times each year by the King himself, at the start of each season: A diamond encrusted gold robe during the hot season, a solid gold robe in the cool season and a gilded monk's robe in the rainy season. A cloister surrounds the temple, and depicted along here is an extensive mural of the Ramakian, the Thai version of the famous Indian epic, the Ramayana. There are many other status and buildings within the compound.
The Grand Palace adjoins Wat Phra Kaew in a common compound and despite the proximity there's a distinct contrast in style between the very Thai Wat Phra Kaew and the more European inspired designs of the Grand Palace. Inside the Grand Palace are several halls like the Boromabiman Hall, built by King Rama VI andAmarinda Hall, the original residence of King Rama I and the Hall of Justice which remain closed to the public. Others which are open to public are
Grand Palace Hall / Chakri Maha Prasat, the impressive Dusit Hall, rated as perhaps the finest architectural building in this style and the Museum, which has information on the restoration of the Grand Palace, scale models of the Wat and Palace and numerous Buddha images.
Located 80 kilometres (50 miles) south west of Bangkok, Damnoen Saduak is the most popular of the many floating markets outside Bangkok.Literally hundreds of small wooden boats cram together paddled by vendors in huge straw hats who sell anything from locally produced fresh fruit and vegetables to hot noodles and cold beer, hats and scarves to spices and souvenirs. The market is also very popular with visitors but you need to get there very early in the morning to see the real thing.
Patpong is not the place for everybody. I would describe it as a partying, boos and sexy environment. It's the most famous night spot in Bangkok and if your curiosity may not sway you away, than pay a visit. The place can be noctorious so just stay along the main street and do not engage further conversation with men peddling to take you to see the best. Experience the locality and the night market as well while you are here.
