Map Of Thailand
Welcome to Thailand, "the land of smiles".

The map of Thailand gives you an idea how Thailand looks and shape like.
Known as Siam until 1939, Thailand is a unified Thai kingdom established in the mid-14th century and the only Southeast Asian country never to have been taken over by a European power. A bloodless revolution in 1932 led to a constitutional monarchy.

Located at Southeastern Asia, bordering the Andaman Sea and the Gulf of Thailand, southeast of Burma. With a population of about sixty four (64) millions spreading over this land slightly more than twice the size of Wyoming. About six (6) millions live in the capital city of Bangkok.
The breakdown of the population are Thai (80%), Chinese (10%), Malay (3%), and the rest are minorities (Mons, Khmers, hilltribes)
Ethnic Thais form the majority, though the area has historically been a migratory crossroads, and has thus produced a degree of ethnic diversity. 95% of Thai practice buddhism and speak the Thai language with some ethnic and regional dialects.

Climate varies a little between the north and south but mainly tropical; rainy, warm, cloudy southwest monsoon (mid-May to September); dry, cool northeast monsoon (November to mid-March); southern isthmus always hot and humid.

Railways, highways and waterways form the main transportation system with domestic airports located in major cities and resort islands.

Rice and other agricultural crops were long mainstays of the Thai economy, and farming is still regarded with great respect by Thais. Tourism is now the single largest foreign exchange earner in Thailand. Bangkok, Chiang Mai and the beach resorts attract the vast majority of visitors, and have deluxe hotels ranking among the world's best.

Thailand border runs along side four countries. To the north is Laos, south is Malaysia, east is Cambodia and to the west is Myanmar(Burma).

Popular tourist destinations are a plenty but basically, major tours are conducted to these locations:
Bangkok   Pattaya   Phuket   Chiang Mai

Other interesting locations include, Chiang Rai, Hua Hin, Koh Samui, Krabi and Hadyai.
